TWEAKING RECIPES TO MAKE THEM YOUR OWN- Or Joel and the Marjoel Cake

May 19, 2021

My good friend Joel was asked to bring dessert for a birthday dinner, and the birthday person said that Carrot Cake was his absolute favorite. So, Joel, who is extremely creative, took the Banana Layer Cake recipe from my website and created his own version. The basics of the recipe were kept, with an equal amount of grated carrots to replace the bananas. He also added some plump raisins and another teaspoon of cinnamon, along with spices like cloves and nutmeg. I was lucky enough to taste a slice and it was delicious. Full of moist, spicy rich flavors, and appealing texture, this cake is a winner. Joel named it his Marjoel cake.

Baking definitely has many more “rules” than cooking, and because of those rules, many people say they prefer not to bake. However, as this story points out you can be a baker, and can still express your creative side. Just have fun!
